Do I, as an athlete, have to be a Christian to play with SHS?
No, SHS strives to be all inclusive. The leadership of SHS strives to keep a Biblical World view with coaching and playing. All athletes and coaches are expected to conduct themselves with the highest level of sportsmanship.
Do I, as a parent, have to be a Christian to coach a team with SHS?
Yes. SHS is a Biblically based organization striving to honor God in training young men and women on and off the playing court/field.
Will SHS be adding additional sports programs?
The birth of a new program begins with a parent like you who sees a need and has a desire to help begin and provide the leadership for that sport for his/her own children and others. SHS offers support in that process. It is hard but rewarding work and always a blessing to work alongside other families to make it happen.
How would I begin the process of starting a new program with the FORCE?
Begin by filling out the coach’s form found HERE. SHS will consider the request and schedule a time to meet with you.
Does a FORCE coach have to be a parent of an athlete on the team?
No. Currently our girls’ varsity volleyball coach has no children. She was, however, homeschooled herself and played for The FORCE when it was known as The Crusaders. The coach of our varsity boys’ basketball team began coaching in 2013. He and his wife now have three little boys. Coaching decisions are prayerfully made by FORCE parents.
Whom does the FORCE play?
This varies with each sport. All current high school sports are associated with The Association of Christian Educators of Louisiana (ACEL), which consists of home school teams and private school teams across the state of Louisiana. Each coach decides, with input from parents, on the schedule. In addition, the teams have participated at the national level with the National Christian Homeschool Championships (NCHC). This organization provides regional and national tournaments in volleyball, basketball, track, and soccer.
The middle school basketball team plays in a local league against teams from Calvary, Evangel, Providence Classical Academy, and other local schools.
